Frequently Asked Questions

I didn't find anything of interest to me using Archives Search. Are there other collections in University Archives & Special Collections which might be of help to me?
Yes, not all of the Archives' collections are searchable at the moment. Contact archives@iit.edu and tell us about your research interest in detail and what you are hoping to find. We will let you know if it would benefit you to make an appointment to visit UASC.

UASC has summary guides available for some of its collections.

The Archives' collections consist primarily of unpublished materials which are in file folders in boxes. You will be given only one folder or box at a time. Each folder or box will be retrieved by the archivist from its storage location (in Galvin Library) and brought to you. UASC can retrieve folders before your arrival if an appointment is made. Please plan enough time for your visit (1-2 hours minimum).

Can I make reproductions?
Photocopies and some digital formats can be made for you by UASC staff for a fee. See our Reproduction Statement for more information.

How can I pay for reproductions?
You must pay online at the UASC online pay site.

Can I take digital photographs?
Yes, photography is allowed for personal research use. If you need photographs or reproductions for presentation or publication, please speak to a staff member about permissions.

Can I use my laptop in UASC?
